Experienced City Court Judge Sherb Sentell

An accomplished legal professional and military veteran based in Minden, Louisiana, Sherb Sentell has served as the Minden-Ward 1 City Judge since his initial election in 2015, followed by his reelection in 2021. This position gives him jurisdiction over six municipalities and the southern half of Webster Parish. City Court Judge Sherb Sentell presides over various civil disputes, adult misdemeanor offenses and all juvenile matters for Ward 1.

Sherb Sentell balances his responsibilities as a judge with his role as a partner at Sentell Law Firm, LLC (https://sentelllawfirm.com). His duties at the general law practice emphasize defending building contractors in trial litigation involving construction disputes and contract law, oil and gas law, and serious personal injury and wrongful death claims. He has secured multi-million dollar awards as a litigator. In his private practice at the Sentell Law Firm, located at 111 N. Monroe St., Minden, Sherb also assists clients with estate planning, wills, trusts, and successions.

Between 2000 and 2014, he served as the Chief Assistant District Attorney with the District Attorney’s Office in the 26th Judicial District for Webster Parish. In 2024, Judge Sentell retired from the military as a General in the Army Reserve in 2024, after over 35 years of service, which he began as an active-duty infantry platoon leader in the 82nd Airborne.

Academically, Sherb Sentell joined the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) while studying political science at Davidson College. He was the Distinguished ROTC Graduate, finishing among the top 5 percent of ROTC students, and received several academic scholarships and awards. He continued his education at Louisiana State University Law School after more than three years of active duty. Sherb graduated 5th in his law school class and was awarded membership to the Order of the Coif, the highest accolade a law student can achieve, and contributed to the Louisiana Law Review. Sherb later earned his Master's Degree from the Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania, where he was selected for the Eisenhower Program.
